. jonathan, i have a list, a horrible list, of the deadliest u.s. school shootings. columbine, of course, killed 12 students before the two shooters took their own lives. we're hearing reports now that up to 20 children may have been shot. it is hopefully -- we say this every single time we cover one of these things, a line in the sand. there has got to be a measurable xhank, some kind of reaction. one would hope that there will be some political capital to report in the way we handle gun and gun violence in this country. >> what's so traumatizing, beyond the trauma that we're already experiencing is the fact that we're talking about the possibility of multiple children dead. not high school students. want college students. not pedestrians on the street. grown adults. we're talking about children who went to school today, you know, starry-eyed, going to school with all the hope and joy that comes with that. especially in this holiday season and to now learn that a gunman went into that school. someone from the outside. i mean, just we don't know who this gunman is. we don't know if this

employees works at all mart, employs 1.4 million u.s. workers. this is according to a study, if large retailers paid $25,000 a year for full-time year-round work more than 700,000 americans would be able to cross the poverty line. >> that's stunning. and what that focuses on is a fact that is on cured in the debate on poverty. most poor people work every day. people have a notion they're on the dole and chilling out, buying cadillacs and eating mcdonald's and getting their weave done. reality is that most poor people are working two, three jobs but they work 40, 50, 60 hours a week, they can't make ends meet. they have two, three jobs so they can't go to their kids' school to talk about their report card and if they don't they are looked at as poor parents but if they do they might lose a job that will sustain the kid that might relieve him from being a lash key kid but put them on the dole. a little help from the labor force would help these poor people turn themselves in to worthy workers who are recipients of a wage that is living not barely subsifting. >> talking about the income

in the deaths of four americans, including u.s. ambassador chris stevens. the scathing 39-page report has now led to the resignation or dismissals of four senior state department officials. in addition to cataloging the security failures in benghazi, the report also concluded that there had been no demonstration at the site prior to the attack. it reminded americans that "the key questions surrounding the identity, actions, and motivations of the perpetrators remain to be determined." all of this drew some tough reaction from lawmakers on the senate foreign relations committee who heard testimony from two deputy secretaries in place of hillary clinton who is recuperating from a concussion. >> i cannot imagine that we had people out there with the lack of security existing, and it seems to me what the state department would have done is to prioritize and if, in fact, we cannot have people safely there, not send them there. >> fending off criticism over her absence, clinton yesterday announced that she will appear before the committee in mid-january once she has recovered. at the start of today
